Get your morning off to a great start by adding extra virgin olive oil to traditional oatmeal breakfast staple. Supercharged with antioxidants and heart healthy monounsaturated fats, EVOO complements the sweeter flavors and contributes to a richer and smoother texture.
INGREDIENTS
  • 2 tablespoons Zejd extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 ½ cup rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • pinch of kosher salt
  • 1 cup chopped strawberries
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup milk (of any kind)
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup (or honey)
  • additional chopped strawberries for topping
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Heat extra virgin olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add oats and stir for 2 minutes to toast. 2. In a blender, mix the milk, water and chopped strawberries until the texture is smooth. 3. Pour the liquid mixture into the saucepan. 4. Add the cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and maple syrup or honey and stir to combine. 5. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently until thickened, about 10-15 minutes. 6. Serve immediately and top with additional strawberries, as desired.
